There is good knowledge of conditions that affect the supply of herring from the North Atlantic, but poor knowledge of what drives demand. Better knowledge of demand drivers will contribute to increased value creation in the industry. Through the initial phases of the project “Baseline - Cod”, which was started by Capia AS in 2009, it has already been demonstrated that it is possible to collect data and analyze the market for cod, in near real time, with good precision. Norut - Northern Research Institute Tromsø, in collaboration with Capia AS, therefore proposes a preliminary project to start work on creating a similar model for herring. This work is thought to be done in collaboration with the University of Tromsø. Goals: 1. To map the availability, quality and price of data from selected sources. 2. To map and obtain studies and research reports that are relevant to the project. To clarify partner (s): a. To clarify the potential and usefulness of the main project. b. To establish letters of intent with partners on participation in the main project financially and / or in terms of work. 4. To create a project description for the main project with milestones, budget and plan for financing. The feasibility study will form a foundation for a main project.
