BlueBio is an ERA-NET COFUND created to directly identify new and improve existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market and find new ways of creating value from in the blue bioeconomy.

In 2019 only 10% of the herring production was used for food, the rest was use for oil production and fish meal. The project aims at identify the challenges for a better use of herring as a food product and looks into the areas of residual raw material handling, technology inventory, skills inventory and financial inventory.
