After Norbait's processing equipment was disposed of, Norway does not have a company that can produce restructured bait for the autoline fleet. As the Institute of Marine Research is now carrying out an FHF-funded project to look at attractions in artificial bait, the Marine Research Project will need a production technology for bait to be able to test its ideas under practical conditions. Bait costs are rising and have reached the pain threshold for autoline boats. This project will design a technology concept for the production of low-cost bait based on by-products of fish and marine organisms. The project will perform a technical economic analysis of proposed concepts so that the most economical production process can be selected for further industrialization. Goals: • To propose a technological solution on how to industrially produce bait based on fish by-products. The technological solution must be assessed with regard to investment needs and operating costs so that production costs for restructured bait can be estimated (Work package 1). • To build a prototype. (Work package 2, which is beyond this subproject). • To adapt the production technology to achieve the physical parameters that a desired bait should have (Work package 3, which is beyond this subproject).
