Development of innovative methodologies for the identification and/or search of residues, environmental contaminants, substances used for fraudulent use, additives and genetically modified organisms in food of animal and plant origin, in animal feed, and in-depth analysis of the causes of introduction into the food chain and risk assessment. Particular attention will be given to the identification of microplastics in molluscs and zooplankton, as main links in the marine trophic chain, and of any contaminants (PAHs, PCBs, pesticides) contained in these microplastics and in the host animal. Specific experiments will be carried out to evaluate the risk of absorption, by microplastics dispersed in the marine environment, of contaminants present in the environmental matrix in which they are found.
