The objective is to produce and prepare marketing of health products that are either based on traditional nutritional value of fish proteins or the bioactivity of peptides processed form fish. The goals of the project are to develop, optimise and standardize production methods for fish proteins and peptides, to develop basic formulations for utilizing fish proteins and peptides in various food products including functional foods and nutraceuticals, to validate, verify and document the safety and health promoting effects of dried fish proteins and peptides. The partners in the project are Iceprótein hf , the Icelandic Fisheries Laboratories, Unit for Nutrition Research, University of Iceland , NIFES in Bergen, Norway and University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn in Poland. It is expected that Iceprotein hf. will at the end of the project be producing and selling dried fish proteins to be used in products based on traditional nutritional value and that the company will be collaborating with partners in Iceland and abroad in trying to get health claims relating to fish proteins and well defined peptides and peptide blends accepted and validated by health authorities first in Japan and later in Europe and the United States.
