The aim of the project is to develop new cost effective methods for the extraction of proteinic pigments (R-phycoerythrin, allophycocyanin) and yellow colored pigments from the biomass of the red alga Furcellaria lumbricalis originating from the Baltic Sea. The results of the study contribute to more effective utilization of the Estonian unique natural resource, the biomass of Furcellaria lumbricalis.
