This project aims to increase value creation by developing knowledge and product breadth of food souvenirs at the canning company King Oscar, which will be distributed to Norwegian tourism markets. King Oscar is one of the few remaining canned food producers in Norway, the company produces a wide range of canned products from various types of seafood raw materials and the company has a high level of expertise in long-lasting seafood products. The overall objective of the project is increased value creation through the development of seafood souvenirs that can be distributed in Norwegian tourism markets in a practical, attractive and informative way. Even though the project is aimed at a niche market, the results from the research to be carried out in the project will also be relevant for other parts of the seafood industry and other markets. The innovation in the project is related to the choice of products, product information and design that will sell well in a tourism market where the supply of seafood souvenirs today is low. The project will result in a range of canned products, consisting of traditional products in new production and some new varieties based on traditional raw materials. In the development of an exhibition and packaging concept for these seafood souvenirs, the aim will be to convey relevant and promotional product information about, for example, serving suggestions, the product's origin and history, health and sustainability, consisting of traditional products in new production and some new varieties based on traditional raw materials.
