NFR worked on an alternative packaging method for herring, mackerel and capelin. The new the package solution involves the use of a thermoforming machine and two packaging films (above and below) instead of the current solution with plastic foil wraps and cardboard. In the project one has provided that the new packaging solution is at least as good as the previous solution with regard to the quality and durability of the product. Goals: • packaging, as well as guidelines for packaging that is adapted to pelagic raw material, for use both for manufacturer and buyer. • Optimize packaging for pelagic fish adapted to 2 different markets • Develop process packaging • Develop suitable packaging for pelagic fish for end users.
