Aquaculture and fish farming are activities with great economic potential for both Tunisia and Sicily and are therefore supported by development plans. To contribute to this development, this project aims to promote exchanges between public institutions of research, development, training, innovation, production and administration to bring out the common opportunities and challenges of the Sicilian Region and Tunisia in terms of technology to improve the quality and ensure the safety of aquaculture products (AP). The development of this integrated strategy that enhances the image of healthy and quality PAs will allow this sector to acquire greater visibility in Tunisia/Sicily, in the Mediterranean area and more generally on an international scale. The collaboration established also has the objective of disseminating the results and innovations to the promoters of aquaculture and the processing industries of the PA with a view to integrating the scientific world with the production system. Furthermore, thanks to the proposed innovations, economic players will be able to improve their production performance and become more competitive on local, national and international markets. ACTIVITY: The project is structured around 5 components referring to: 1. Evaluation of the risks associated with the consumption of AP., 2. Consistency of regulations relating to aquaculture products, 3. Enhancement of the image of the PAs, 4. Analysis of the needs for the consumption/promotion of the PAs, 5. Transfer of research results between the various partners and players in the sector.
