The available database comprises research projects in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Seafood Processing and Marine Biotechnology active in the time period 2003-2022.
BlueBio is an ERA-NET COFUND created to directly identify new and improve existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market and find new ways of creating value from in the blue bioeconomy.

The pelagic consumer industry today supplies large quantities of herring and mackerel of very good quality to many markets, for which consumers have a great willingness to pay. But only a small part of the value creation from this raw material takes place in Norway. In value chains for a number of other fish species, as well as in value chains for a number of meat products, the raw material producers have succeeded in taking care of a larger part of the value creation. This project has looked at what the pelagic consumer industry can learn from value chains for other foods. Goal: to create a basis for increased profitability by identifying opportunities for increased value creation. Sub-objectives To generate knowledge about • prices, margins and distribution of value creation between different links in the value chains for herring and mackerel, as well as a number of comparable value chains for other fish species and meat products • value chain roles and division of labor in different value chains for fish and meat • possible development in value chain roles for pelagic industry • what organization and what competence has been necessary for raw material producers in other value chains to be able to develop larger assortments / larger value chain roles • how higher prices and greater volume have been achieved in other value chains through assortment development • how value chains for other foods handle the challenge of uncertainty in the commodity markets and expectations of stable prices further down the value chain
