The Norwegian fishing industry receives new orders, requirements and expectations from consumers to label their raw materials and products with origin, product content and production methods. This helps to reinforce the importance of knowledge about how and for whom information affects the evaluation and choice of their products. The project is designed as a doctoral scholarship where the candidate over 4 years must complete a course sequence and a dissertation part. The dissertation will consist of four international publications that will cover issues about how consumers react to different forms and channels for brand, product and production information. Among other things, we will focus on information about farmed and wild-caught fish from Norway and Norwegian waters. Key dependent variables will be perceived quality / satisfaction, perceived health effects / risk, trust, intentions to purchase, willingness to pay and, if possible, actual choices. The dissertation will be based on interviews and experiments combined with a questionnaire. Multivariate data analysis will be used.
