Summary The main goal is increased knowledge to further develop and expand the area of application of Norwegian-produced CO2 emitters for seafood and meat products. The CO2 emitter develops CO2 gas in the packaging that will help maintain / increase product quality and durability, as well as reduce inefficient packaging and distribution. Key challenges: - Efficient utilization of results with the use of CO2 emitters for fish products and transfer this to meat products- Achieve an optimal combination between the composition of the packing gas and the use of CO2 emitters for modified atmospheric cod - Efficiency of CO2 emitter adapted to large transport boxes without use of modified atmosphere as well as use of supercooling of the fish.Potential: Gas packaging with a high CO2 level is desirable for a number of foods because CO2 inhibits microbial growth and prolongs shelf life. The use of a CO2 emitter in gas-packed fish products leads to a reduction in packing volume while achieving extended durability, better quality and increased transport efficiency. There is great potential in transferring this to meat products and achieving similar improvements. High O2 levels in the packing gas have proven to be the most ideal for cod. The combination of high-O2 gas and CO2 emitter will therefore contribute to increased quality and durability for cod. Adapting the emitter to fish packed in gas-tight transport boxes without the use of a modified atmosphere has great potential as this packaging method can be used without large investment in packaging machines? in addition, increased transport efficiency. The use of CO2 emitters in the aspects described will lead to increased quality and durability, increased transport efficiency, reduced packaging costs and less environmental impact. Using a CO2 emitter will strengthen the cod farming industry in Norway, increase the exsport of processed fish products, increase the competitiveness of the industry involved and ensure long-term value creation.
