In connection with two storm periods in January 2006, there were escapes from several fish farms. For several of these escapes were believed to be due to technical failure. SINTEF Fisheries and aquaculture AS has with a contribution from Barlindhaug Norfico AS investigated eight of the escape cases and made one assessment of the cause of the escapes. Based on the information gathered and previous R&D projects in the field of escape, a number of recommendations and proposals for changes in technical requirements are given to fish farms.
