FHF sees a need for an updated study of the climate footprint of aquaculture products (salmon and rainbow trout) to be carried out in order to document the development over time. This will provide the aquaculture industry with documentation that can be used against customers, consumers and others who request such documentation and can also be a contribution to decision support when the industry must implement measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Main objective: To carry out a comparative analysis of products from Norwegian aquaculture in order to obtain updated figures for energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Sub-goals: • To make visible where in the value chain the climate footprint is greatest and thereby where there is the greatest potential for measures. • To present proposals for emission reduction measures and the effect of the measures must be calculated. These potential effects must be quantified (in quantities/CO2 equivalents, as well as in economic terms).
