To summarise, the overall aims of this research are: i. Produce a time-series (2011 – 2018) of retention probability predictions based on oceanographic modelling. ii. To ground truth some of the modelling assumption (e.g. timing, vertical and horizontal distribution, ecology, development rates) through focused larval survey work. iii. To investigate how oceanographic and other factors explain observed burrow densities in space and time. iv. Examine how much recruitment variation can be explained by oceanographic process and the implications for fishery management decisions and targets. v. Compare stock connectivity estimates with estimates derived from a parallel population genetics study. vi. Develop a framework to monitor the impact of changing ocean climate on the recruitment dynamics of commercial species focusing on N. norvegicus initially.
