Summary Boundaries at sea can be a state borders (sovereignty), limits that surrounds the coastal belt where the state has only a sovereign rights or jurisdiction (e.g. the Limits of the Continental Shelf), and limits the areas in which are special legal regulations (e.g. protected fishing zones) . Rules on maritime boundaries are among the most complex issues in contemporary international law of the sea, although it is largely governed by international law and codified običajima.
