This project focuses on ingredient research, specifically fish oils and fish meals, and their quality. Fish products manufacturing creates a variety of different products, both premium, and byproducts. Some of the treatments of these include fish meals and fish oils. These ingredients are widely used in products like pet foods, but also supplements, and feeds. Understanding the characteristics and quality of these products enable targeted usage in products. One of the key issues with fish meals and fish oils is their shelf-life, and the extension of shelf-life. A muriad of antioxidants can be used for this purpose, however it should be taken into consideration that there is a trend of moving towards a clean label- type of food, and implementing natural, rather than synthetic antioxidants, is highly desirable.
