For two seasons (autumn 04 and speed 05), the Institute of Marine Research has collaborated with the Lie group tried out a trout machine on board Libas to take samples of mackerel before casting. Autumn 04 var the trolling machine placed on the stern. A lot of turbulence in the lake made it difficult to get anglane down to the depths where fish were recorded. In addition, some fish fell off dorga. In 2005, the trolling machine was seen further ahead, by the deck door on the starboard side. Styrmann and skipper thinks there is a clear connection between what one gets on the dorg and what one throws at. They now mostly use the trolling machine. Data from 2004 show that there can be a big difference between the weight and length of the fish as a host sign on dorg in hay to the one who hosts sign in net. It does not seem to be systematic differences between travel cabinets. In 2005, it seems that the connection is clearer. It is still too few samples for one to say anything about the precision of the sampling with dorg used onthis way. Unfortunately, it is also poorly documented whether the trough samples are representative attention to bait content and parasites.
