The objectives of this project are to determine the profile of the microbiological communities associated with fish [sea bream (Sparus aurata) and sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)] and bivalves [oyster (Ostrea edulis), cockles (Cerastoderma edule), good clam (Ruditapes decussata) and male clam (Venerupis pullastra)] produced in the Ria de Aveiro and compare them with those of wild organisms and organisms produced in other geographical regions through the use of molecular tools. The aim of this methodology is to develop efficient traceability protocols for the organisms produced, and the validation of this methodology is the first step towards obtaining certificates of origin for products of marine origin.
