The objective of the project is to be the platform for optimisation of chilling technologies for fishery products and seafood to ensure their quality and provide stimulus for the practical application of the information and knowledge required for marketing success of the Icelandic industries. (1) Integrate present state of art with research at IFL and its collaborators (at home and abroad); (2) provide basis for practical process parameter controls, increase knowledge on cooling technologies and their effects on product attributes, quality, shelf-life and safety; (3) analyse economic factors for benefit decision making of variable options of choice in technologies and logistics'; (4) develop and adapt use of practical rapid methods, develop applicable models and linked decision making tools suitable for use in industry; (5) develop guiding notes, handbooks (GMP) and interactive web applications for practical use by the industry; (6) targeted dissemination of know-how and skills founded on modern/up to date sources of information in Iceland and internationally to provide solid foundation for successful marketing leadership in the global market.
