Lack of knowledge and understanding of the European crab market has led to an imbalance between supply and demand for crab, especially in 2007, but also in 2008. This is not just a Norwegian phenomenon, but applies more or less to the entire European crab industry. In order to give the Norwegian crab industry the best possible basis for activity in 2009, it was decided under the auspices of the Crab Committee to carry out the following 2 analyzes to complete the picture: • Structural analysis of the European crab industry • Market analysis of the French crab market To carry out a preliminary project that maps and evaluates alternative methods / technologies that can contribute to extended shelf life of fresh crab products, as well as make an assessment of technical solutions and economics for the transport of live crabs.
