"The Norwegian fillet industry is experiencing strong competition from production in low-cost countries, and the financial crisis has also led to significant challenges for the conventional industry. One way to counter this is to further improve the quality of Norwegian haddock and cod products based on requirements and opportunities in relevant markets. Quality of haddock and cod is a comprehensive concept. Criteria for quality are determined both on the basis of market requirements and the type of production or processing the raw material has undergone. In this program, we will define quality from a market perspective and focus on quality-promoting measures throughout the value chain. Views on which quality characteristics and quality defects are most important may vary with where in the value chain one is and which product categories are produced. In order to increase value creation in the industry, it is important to link quality to market requirements and thus look at what constitutes the biggest quality challenges, where any quality errors occur and how to avoid these quality errors in the future. Based on different product groups within the production of cod and haddock, it will be natural to focus on one or more of the following business areas: • fresh fillet products and fresh fish in general (including fish that are, for example, super-chilled, pre-rigor filleted, etc.) • frozen fillet products (eg super-frozen products) " To achieve a market-oriented quality improvement at all stages in the production of Norwegian cod and haddock to strengthen the industry's position in existing and new markets.
